Home Again, Home Again

After 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital, surrounded by wonderful, wonderful nurses (and doctors..but mostly nurses) who helped us take care of Karrick, it was time to go home...but only after our carseat was thoroughly inspected and checked for recalls.

The whole time we were walking out we thought for sure some type of alarm would go off or someone would stop us or something...

Oh and before I had Karrick I saw the idea on a blog to have gifts for the nurses and doctors that help you in the hospital.  They had bags of peanut m&m's with a tag on them that said "Thanks for helping us with our peanut" or something like that.  In the true spirit of copying, I did something similar-but on a smaller scale with fun size bags of m&m's.
We gave them out to everyone who helped us in the hospital while we were there.  And it totally made everyone's day.  We were the talk of the all the nurses...or so they said.  I'm so glad that I took thank you gifts..no matter how silly it may seem.  They were truly appreciated!

Pearls and Paper

November 20, 2010.  Best.  Day.  Ever.

So you know what that means??  Today is our 1st wedding anniversary!

To celebrate we went to the mountains for the weekend.  We left on Friday afternoon to go to Fairplay, Colorado.  We stayed in the Hand Hotel.  (My friend Sarah Hand Pluim's great-grandparents used to own it--very cool!)

I gave Luke the first four Harry Potter Books.

And he gave me Pearls!

We both gave each other traditional first wedding anniversary presents!  We are awesome like that.  :)

Here are some pictures of the hotel (which is a bed and breakfast) where we stayed this weekend.

The hotel entrance
We stayed in the Trapper Room:

There weren't very many other guests this weekend, so we looked in all the other rooms (that had the doors wide open, of course...)

I thought of my sister Wendi when I saw these two rooms.  I took pictures to show her.  (And by putting them on here, she will most likely see them.)

The School Marm Room
Grandma Hand's Room
On Saturday we went over to Breckenridge (which is about 30 miles away from Fairplay) to go exploring and shopping.  As we walked around the town, we were reminded of our honeymoon in Park City.  It was the same ski-town atmosphere.  We had a wonderful time!  Until we ate...way too much!  (But it was soooo delicious!)

Before we left Fairplay to come home, we went to see the monument for Prunes- the famous Burro.  (It's about 3 steps away from the Hand hotel...so we didn't really even have to go out of our way to see it.)

Prunes was awesome.  (I read the story about him...so I totally know...)

It was a wonderful weekend with Luke!  It was good to get away to enjoy the mountains and time together!

Oh and P.S.

This is the card I made for Luke:

Totally got the idea from Pinterest!

It's Friday Already?

This week has gone by quickly.

Remember last week when I said it was supposed to snow last Tuesday-Wednesday?  Well, it did.

Was it as much as they said it would be?  No.  It wasn't.  (I was expecting this crazy blizzard, and then when the snow came it didn't really even stick.)

Did I hear it was supposed to snow again Tuesday-Wednesday of this week?  Um, I think I heard something...  Not sure.

Well, did it snow again?  OH YES.  (It kind of caught us off guard.  Luckily school was cancelled for my sister and I was able to drive her nifty Subaru Forrester to work.)

Anyway since it's Friday and all, I have been in search of something funny to share.

I hope you enjoy a good laugh or two...

To introduce this photo and why I think it's funny, I will share a quote by my friend John Parker.

A group of friends from church were at a get together somewhere when the topic of Ho Ho's came up.  (No, not the Hostess Ho Hos.  The Chinese Restaurant called Ho Ho's where food is a dollar a scoop.)

One person said:  "Don't eat there!  They serve dead cats!"
John responded:  "I don't care if they serve Kung Pao Kitty, just as long as it's only a dollar a scoop."

So when I saw this on Pinterest (of course...where else would I find it???), I took me back to some pretty good laughs.

Happy weekend!  Go have some Chinese food to celebrate!  :)

Yes, I do have a QR code...I'm cool like that.

There I was on Pinterest (shocker) when I came across a thing that was cool (again shocker).  Well, I clicked on it, pinned it, and then I went to the website the pin originated from...'cause that's just what I do...  :)

Well the blog is called Craftaholics Anonymous, and I think it's pretty cool!

Not only did I get more in-depth instructions for making a book cover, I also learned something else that was new (to me at least).

I learned how to make my own QR code!  (Now I need to get a fancy phone that can read QR codes...)

So I made one of my very own.  It's a QR code that links to this blog.  It's a little redundant to put this on the blog that it links to, but I couldn't think of anything else to make a QR code for!

Here it is:

I don't know if it even works.  Oh well.  It was fun and very easy to make!  You should make one too!

Friday Afternoon Cartoons

This week I found some funny things to share.

This one is from pinterest:

Luke and I laughed so hard when we saw this...  Luke is also considering a wardrobe change for his upcoming interviews...  (You know more "ninja"-neer, not so much engineer...maybe...we'll see.)

Speaking of interviews...Luke is going to Louisiana for an on-site interview (2nd interview) the first weekend of November.  He also has another first interview with a new company next week.

And in the meantime, we wait.

In other funny, not that funny, but kind of funny (in a laugh instead of cry type of way) news, a pastor recently called our religion a cult on national television.

Well Mr. Jeffress...this one's for you:  (from the Salt Lake Tribune)

Also Mr. Jeffress, if you really want know what our religion is about you can visit Mormon.org.  And I would suggest doing so before your next interview with Anderson Cooper.

That is if there is a next interview...

Cheers!  Happy Friday!

Time Out from Pinterest*

It's baaack!  Friday, that is...  The weeks just seem to fly right on by!

Anyway, there's this little website called Pinterest*.  This weeks funny was found there.

When Luke and I saw this, we laughed and laughed...and then laughed some more.  So I thought I would share it today.

I hope it makes you laugh too...or at least a smile.

In other news, my sister Wendi and I are going to Time Out for Women in Denver tonight and tomorrow!  Wahoo!  This year's theme is "Choose to Become".

I'm really excited to go and hear the wonderful messages and music that will be shared.

In other other news, Luke continues the job search.  He had a great interview earlier this week (they even took him out to dinner the next day!).  Also, he got word from a company that he interviewed with last week that they want him to come back for a second interview.  And he has an interview today with a whole new company.  This is all very exciting for us!

Happy Friday to you all!
