Sweet Ride

I sold my road bike last Saturday and yesterday I met Luke at the bike store across the street from his work and we purchased a new one.  It's more of a hybrid road bike to pull our new (gently used) bike trailer.  (Which we got a sweet deal on at a yard sale.)

Today Karrick and I took it out for a quick spin.  I think he liked it!  (He didn't cry...so I take that as a good sign...)

Attack of the Babiators

I got Karrick some sweet sunglasses for our Hawaii trip!  They are called Babiators…aviators for babies…

He's definitely going to be the best dressed in the family on our upcoming vacation…

Teeth...Who needs em?!?

So...Karrick decided to be right on target with his teething schedule.  Lame.

We learned some things that will (hopefully) make the other teeth coming in more bearable.  Tylenol.  Once we caught on to what was going on and gave him some medicine things got a lot better.
Teeth are so overrated!  He's finally happy about them though…Luke and I are still on the fence.  You saw the chart above.  This is just the tip of the iceberg!
Chewing on a frozen washcloth
Sofie le girafe is pretty much the best teething toy.  (Thanks to the Watzs for the loaner!)

6 Month Old

Where has the time gone?  How is it even possible that Karrick is now 6 months old???!!!

He's definitely growing...  He's almost 20 pounds and over 2 feet tall!

We love our little but-not-as-little-as-he-used-to-be baby!  It has been fun to watch him grow.

How to make a Minion

We knew before Karrick was even born that we wanted him to be a minion for his first halloween.  (Not that we are the big halloween celebration types...but we just couldn't help it!)

I found a free hat pattern online somewhere (thank you world wide internets!) and enlisted my sister, Wendi, to ask a lady who works at her school if she would take on the task of making it.  (This coworker crochets stuffed animals...(!)  So I figured she could quickly and easily figure out a hat pattern...)  And she did!
She even crocheted the button.  I didn't even know you could crochet buttons...
Karrick tried it on when Wendi gave us the hat in Utah.
And then I found some overalls at Target.  That doesn't even really matter since clearance prices at Target in Alaska are like regularly priced items at Target in the lower 48...but that's a whole other blog post that I probably won't ever have time to write...

I couldn't find a yellow onesie.  So I dyed a white onesie yellow.  But I got the water too hot, so it was almost orange.  And that didn't go with the hat.  (Seriously.  It looked bad.)  So I soaked it in cold water and bleach...twice.  And the second time I fell asleep and left it in the water for longer than I intended.  However, it turned out perfectly.  (Yay!  Naps really do fix everything!)

For the last part, I looked on etsy for a "G" patch ("G" is for Gru), and the internets came through for me again!

And here is our little minion:

Oh....and the very last part of the costume was the black socks (because baby shoes are ridiculous...cute but ridiculous...) and we borrowed those from our neighbor James--the little monkey pictured below:

Bumbo day!

Karrick and his new toy...the bumbo (a floor seat thing-y) that we purchased on Amazon for a lot less than they sell at the store and shipped to AK for free...say what you want about Amazon, but it's a lifesaver for us here!
Now it will be easier to try to feed him his rice cereal! (Notice I already have the bib on him?? No more rookie mom mistakes...)

How to be a rookie mom part #5638

I'm new at this mom thing.  And today it showed.

So Karrick is 4 months old and to celebrate I mixed some rice cereal with milk to see if he would eat it.  I thought: "I should put a bib on him."  And then: "No he doesn't need a bib..."

Well.  I was wrong.  He seemed to like the cereal though!
Why yes...that is cereal all over everything.

And it's winter again....

So far this year June, July, and August have been the only months snow hasn't fallen.  That's right folks, yesterday morning we had some snow flakes in the air and this morning snow flakes were falling again AND sticking!  So crazy!
The neighborhood--

It made me kind of sad, until I realized this is Karricks first snowfall!  Then I got excited and dressed him up for some snowy pics.

Owl hat from my friend Lucy.  (You might recognize it from the baby shower post back in May.)

Good thing my dad was still around so he could take our picture!
And then it was time for the bear suit.  The fluffiest, cuddliest bear suit EVER!

Yay for snow!

(But seriously?  Already?)

A visit from Grandpa Alan

My dad and his friend Jeff came up to Alaska last week for some business.  It has been fun having them around.  We get to hang out with them at breakfast and dinner--other than that they are out doing their own thing.  They went down to the Kenai over the weekend hoping to do some fishing, but between the weather and the river flooding (due to some drainage of some glacier lakes) they weren't able to.  Maybe next time!

Karrick loves hanging out with his grandpa!

Grow Baby Grow!

It's hard to believe Karrick is 3 months old now!  Where has the time gone??  It seems like it has gone so fast and so slow all at the same time.  That's probably due to the sleep deprivation...

Here are some photos of our growing baby boy.

Happy (at the moment) to be shopping at Fred Meyer with mom!
At church-a special stake meeting with Bishop Causse.  We sat on the couches in the foyer and listened over the speaker.  Way better than the hard chairs in the back!
Bouncing on the ball before bedtime...his hair looks really red against the background of Luke's shirt.  It really isn't that red.
He got an orange dog from his dr. appointment at the E.N.T.  No anatomical reasons to prevent him from nursing.  He just can't do it/doesn't know how.  That's a whole other story...
One of the bandaid souvenirs from his 2 month vaccines.  The other bandaid was also a Despicable Me one. (Awesome!)
Thinking about waking up...
Watching his first Broncos game at our neighbors house.
Not his first bath, but one of the first bath pictures ever taken.  He loves taking baths!!
We think he really is adore-bot!!!  (Of course we aren't biased or anything...)
He has officially found his hands.
Cute monster bum.  He grew out of his first monster outfit.  I had to get the next size.  I wasn't ready to let go of the monster feet!
See what I mean?!?!?
Already falling asleep during prayers.  Ha!
Bear bum!  I'm so excited he can finally fit in these cute pants!  Too bad he can't wear them longer.
He's growing up so fast!
Recharging before his next adventure.
Love his chunky little baby hands!
Working on his pouty lip...great...
He likes cuddling with his burp cloths.  Which makes sense seeing as how he has fallen asleep many times with his face on them!
And one last bum shot...this is an outfit given to Karrick by our friend Bonnie.  It's perfect for cheering on his cousins in Tabiona, Utah.  Go tigers!

Sleepy Baby

We have so so so many pictures of Karrick sleeping.  It's one of the things he does best.  Here are a few (a lot) of sleepy pics.
"The prayer"
Exhausted after first bath at home.  (Sorry no bath pics...we try to avoid electronics and water, but mostly we forgot.  I'm sure Karrick will forgive us someday.  Like he even cares right now...)

"Big Boy" pose
The softest, most cuddly blanket ever from Karrick's cousins Kenleigh and Kamerie.  (That's a lot of K's!)
He even cuddles with his bouncy seat.
He usually poses with his hands somehow when he sleeps...well unless he's all swaddled, which he usually is these days.
But even when he's swaddled, he still works very hard to get his hands free!

"Drunk on tired"

"The fighter'
Another cuddly blanket from Aunt Penny
Stop the cuteness!

The "next time I move this pacifier is gone" pose
Smiley baby!
