| (I saw this picture on Anchorage Daily News website, and I knew I needed to steal/share it.) |
I never knew that 80 degrees could be so "hot". But in a place that is usually cool/cold/freezing--80 degrees can be quite miserable. We don't have air conditioning, but luckily our living room is underground and it stays pretty cool. It takes awhile for things to cool down at night since the sun doesn't even set until around midnight.
It's weird to think that exactly one month ago today (May 18th) it looked like this outside--
By June 1st it looked like this--
Summer doesn't mess around here, and especially this summer. The last time it was 80 degrees in the Anchorage area was in 2009 (August, I think). A lot of towns have been experiencing their hottest days of all time. I actually had to water our lawn for the first time ever...well first I had to buy a hose... Pure craziness!
And for those of you keeping track...there was an important due date last week that came and went. But baby boy Hanzon has yet to grace us with his presence. My doctor says that he must be a true Alaskan baby that prefers cooler weather. I think he's just happy where he is. Silly baby.
