Longest Winter EVER

Last year was our first year in Alaska.  We experienced many record breaking things...like most snowfall, coolest July, etc.

None of those things prepared us for the newest record in Alaska to be broken.  Longest snow season EVER.  232 days of winter and "sprinter" (as this spring has been called by the weatherman).
Divide 232 by 7 and you get roughly 33 weeks.  And I'm almost 37 weeks pregnant.  Imagine having a snow season as long as a pregnancy...well almost.  It's pure craziness!  (On the plus side, baby Chewie has been helping me keep warm through all of this...for that I am grateful!)

Our latest snow happened over the weekend.
Luke took this picture late Friday night after we got done watching Star Trek (circa 2009--in preparation for us to go see the new one)  You can tell it's super late because it's dark...the sun doesn't even set until 11 p.m!
And this was the scene out our back door on Saturday morning.  (May 18th.)
But the weather is finally changing.  We *might* even get to 60 degrees this week!  That's going to feel like heaven!!!
