Luke and I decided it might not be a good idea to run a 12k after doing zero training. We decided to go down to the race early and switch our registration to the 6k (called the Skinny Mini 6k) instead. It was no problem to switch, AND it was the best decision ever!
A 6k is still a decent race distance. It was a good balance of challenging-but-still-fun that we wouldn't have experienced in the 12k (with no previous training that is...). The race started at the Skinny Raven running store (8th & H Street), then along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail (with beautiful views of the Cook Inlet), and then we finished at Delaney Park in Anchorage.
And as far as the Twilight 12k? We'll do it someday. There's always next year!
Oh and earlier in the day we celebrated National Donut Day at our local Fred Meyer.
What? We had a race. We needed to carb load...that's we told ourselves anyway...
