Saturday Adventures

Luke experienced his very first Alaska yard sales today.  I don't think he was very excited about going...it's a good thing that the first one we went to had a lot of "dude" stuff.

He found a sweet bow saw...

And if you think everything is big in Texas...you should see the size of stuff in Alaska.  Take for example, this huge fish net...used for dip-netting...we think.  (We will be able to dip net next year, after we are official residents.)

No, we didn't buy it.  But these are the things we did buy:  (we spent a whopping 6 dollars)

The rolled up thing is a fish cleaning mat, then we have the bow saw, and then we got a fish bat....(it's for use after you catch the fish..and before you clean it...if you know what I mean.)

Later in the day we stopped by the local sporting goods store--Boondock's.  It's an awesome store!

Luke bought a fly fishing rod.  It's really cool!  He's very excited about it.  (And so am I!)

After stopping there we decided to drive up and see Eklutna Lake.

We parked in the parking lot, and walked down to the lake.  (It was not warm outside!)

We walked over a bridge/stream...

And then we came to this sign:

To the left you see this:

Which we assumed were the Twin Peaks...due to them looking very similar...

We went on the trail to the right--toward the lake.

This lake is where our delicious tap water comes from.

And this is the lake...it's 7 miles long.

Then we ran to the car to get warm again!
