My sister Kerri's family had a rodeo last weekend in St. George, Utah. I got a voicemail from my niece Kaelyn (who is 12) on Friday saying that Kenleigh (who is 10) slipped when she was getting off her horse (Peppy) during goat tying and hurt her hand.
I tried calling Kaelyn back to find out the whole story, but she didn't answer. I tried my sister's cell too, but again, no answer. Not long after my call, I got a call back from my sister's cell phone. It was Kenleigh. I asked her what happened, and if her hand was ok. She said her hand had cuts on it and that she got hit on the chin by Peppy's hoof, and some teeth were chipped. (I asked her dental related questions about pain and such and all she said was that her teeth hurt when she breathed air over them...typical for chipped teeth..)
The next day I got another voicemail from Kaelyn telling me that Kenleigh was in the emergency room... Turns out Kenleigh had a broken jaw. Now she's the proud owner of a lag screw, and eats everything through a straw... :(
But before her surgery she finished the rodeo and got 4th place in the barrel racing.
Cowgirl UP!
(Oh my... She's WAY tougher than me!)
