Eklutna Adventures

Friday afternoon, after Luke finished his training, we went up to Eklutna Lake to go camping.  We invited another family (The Viens) to come up and camp with us.  The camp spots are first come first serve, so Luke and I headed up there early...and it's a good thing we got there when we did.  We ended up getting one of the last spots available!  Phew!

Luke and I went fishing.  We didn't catch anything in the glacial-silty lake.  There's not many fish in there to begin with due to the poor water clarity.  (The water in the lake is good though.  It's where our delicious drinking water comes from!) And we didn't fish very long.  Luke's phone went swimming in the lake, the fish weren't biting, and we just weren't very patient.

This morning, after breakfast and breaking camp we went on a bike ride on the lakeside trail.  It was such a fun ride!

The lake was like glass!
Luke held my "horse" while I took some pictures.
Our trusty steeds :)
Our lunch spot.  About mile 5 on the lakeside trail...at the Bold Creek Bridge.
We had the most delicious PB&J sandwiches for lunch.  Peanut butter+homemade bread+homemade fireweed jelly= DELICIOUSNESS!
On the way back, the sun came out and it got pretty warm!!
Driftwood along the lake shore.
Luke is a champion rock-skipper!...I am not.
I loved riding my mountain bike!  This was the first time I have got to ride it on an actual trail (not a road or sidewalk).  I felt way more comfortable on it than I do on my road bike!  (Probably because there weren't any cars to worry about...haha!)

Oh we saw quite a lot of bear scat on the trail.  But luckily, we didn't encounter any bears!
