Hiking group--to the Sand Dunes!

When my friend Megan found out I knew where the sand dunes were, she asked if we could go there for hiking group.  I said "heck yes!...unless it's rainy...in that case, no"...(because when I think "sand dunes"--I think warm sunny days...)

Well it wasn't rainy, so to the sand dunes we went!...It actually got kinda hot while we were there.  (Just so you know "hot" in Alaska is upper 60's, low 70's.)

Everyone had a wonderful time!  YAY!
Our group at the dunes (along with random people on the far left...)
Here is Megan pretending she's in Hawaii
And then Brooklyn decided to join her
And then Joelyn and Eliza decided to join her too!
My "spot" in the sand..along with the sand dune mountain range that I created with my feet.
Some of the kids playing in the sand
Check out this hole they dug!  It was pretty deep...

And of course this post wouldn't be complete without some fancy instagram pics...
A car skeleton
The clouds did this weird "snakeskin" thing.  I had never seen that before.
The sand is slowly taking over the park!
Here's another shot of Megan and Brooklyn...
And here's the 411 on how to get to the sand dunes from Eagle River.  Go south on the Glenn.  Continue going into town on 5th (Glenn turns into 5th).  Turn left on L street (which turns into Minnesota).  Take the Raspberry road exit.  Go right.  Turn left on Sand Lake.  Turn right on Kincaid (which turns into Jodphur).  Kincaid parking lot will be on the right.  (Keep an eye out for the sign in the trees.)  Park in the first parking lot (on the right), and walk west on the trail.  (If there's motorcycles on the motocross track, you'll hear them.  Walk toward their noise.)  Once you get to the motocross border fence, go right (north) along the fence until you find the sand.
