Hiking in Arctic Valley

Today the goal was to hike Rendezvous Peak.  I drove up earlier in the day because I had never been to Arctic Valley, and I wanted to make sure I knew where it was.  Well....as it turns out, there is still quite a bit of snow up there!  And there were even skiers up there...  (It made me think of Luke.  That's something he really enjoys to do.)
When it came time for the hike, my friend Cheri and I were the only ones that went.  We just hiked around some small trails (which we assumed are berry picking trails) that were snow free (well for the most part).
This is looking East-ish.  Ship Creek is down in the bottom of that canyon.
My friend Cherie.
We saw a few wild flowers.

I took those pics in honor of my boss in Colorado...he loves taking pictures (especially of flowers).

The mountain right above my head is Rendezvous Peak...maybe we'll try again later in the summer!
On the way back down the mountain there are great views of the Anchorage area.
Anchorage, Fire Island, and the Cook Inlet.
Fort Richardson and Mount Susitna
They call Mount Susitna "Sleeping Lady Mountain"...but I don't see it yet.  I was raised in Utah by a "Sleeping Lady Mountain"...and it's way easier for me to see!
