We are only 3 inches from record snowfall.
Three. Inches.
We better get them! We have come so far!
Anyway...It's getting warmer here. The sun is up until almost 9 p.m. It's hard to tell the time of day from the sun. No. I take that back. It's impossible to tell the time of day from the sun. (I'm not a seasoned Alaskan...if you haven't figured that out yet...) We gain about 30 minutes of sunlight a week. (Isn't that a lot? I think it is...)
With all the melting, slushing, and puddling we've got going on it's impossible to keep the car clean.
We got our very first set of Alaska license plates...and you can totally tell they are new plates since they are the only clean thing on the whole car! (And check it out...our license plate tags are good for 2 years! So cool!)
These shoes are my new best friend-
Bogs... They totally saved me in the parking lot of Wal-Mart today. There was a huge puddle/lake thing going on between the car and their front door, but my feet stayed nice and dry!
Speaking of the Wal-Mart parking lot...I actually saw pavement there today. Underneath 8-12 inches of ice and snow...there is pavement! Who knew?!?! (Also there are sidewalks and fences where I had no idea there were sidewalks and fences...It's a whole new world!)
I tried to capture the ice/snow drop off in the parking lot, but the picture doesn't quite do it justice.
There's still plenty of snow here. (And we better be getting 3 more inches of it!) But I think it's safe to say:
It's Break-Up Time!
