Vacation Ideas

Last Sunday night Luke and I went to a fireside with my sister Wendi.  It was called "Evidences of Christ in the Yucatan".

Stela 11
(One of the first Maya rulers is depicted in this relief sculpture as divine. He stands between a bird on the top of the monument and the open mouth of an earthly creature beneath his feet. This particular portrayal of the ruler, who wears an avian mask, indicates his role as the spiritual bridge between the heavens and the underworld. Stele 11 is one of some 150 Maya masterpieces, dating primarily from 200 B.C. to 600 A.D.)
The guy who spoke has done extensive research in the Yucatan about Mayan culture, and has been an ambassador to Mexico for a long time.

He said if you compare the Yucatan and the archaeological findings uncovered there to a large stadium like Invesco Field, what they have uncovered so far is equivalent the first chair in the first row.... (due to the massive jungle..oh and not to mention the millions of dollars needed to excavate ruins and artifacts and reclaim the land...)

It was such a interesting meeting!  We loved learning about Mayan history and artifacts and symbols....oh my!
But now guess where Luke and I want to go?  (Well, among other places...)

Yep that's right...

We are now taking donations for our trip.  :)
